About Us + Welcome

Welcome and thank you for stopping by to learn more about our practice! We are a practice of three clinicians based throughout Brooklyn and New York City: Liza Morkovich, LCSW, Dr. Jennifer De Mucci, PsyD, and Gabrielle Jakob, LMHC. We truly love what we do. We take a great deal of pride in supporting our community and opening doors for new clients on their paths to mental health and wellness.

The most important aspect of our work in mental health is to center our therapeutic approaches on evidence-based models. We believe that using research-based models allows for real treatment and change for our clients. Our team relies on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy to treat a myriad of clients including the perinatal mental health community and those who’ve experienced birth trauma, those living with anxiety disorders, couples, families and adolescents and those who’ve experienced other forms of trauma.

Why do we focus so much on evidence-based therapy practices? Mostly, this is because through the many years of our combined work, we have directly seen how evidence based practices are huge assets to someone who is suffering with depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety and more. We’ve seen people with anxiety get better in a short period of time with modalities like exposure response combined with cbt and act.

It is so important to know that the right treatment does work for anyone who is suffering.

Along with using research-based treatment modalities, we highly value many client-centered approaches including compassion, empathy, and the facilitation of authentic relationships between ourselves and the community we serve.

Our support also often extends itself into teaching clients about mindfulness. Teaching clients to practice mindfulness and radical acceptance can become an integral tool in their healing process. To share with a client the ways in which they can observe their surroundings and their internal, emotional world without judgement is a powerful tool in wellness and mental health balance.

Since the COVID-19 crisis, we have seen a lot more people with severe anxiety due to pandemic, along with an increase in the severity of symptoms. Combining mindfulness, strong client and therapist relationships, with evidence-based models that are specific to the needs of a client can be the difference between talking to a friend versus talking to a person using treatment that is proven to help. It is the difference between something that has been shown to help versus something that feels supportive. Giving clients an assurance and guarantee that treatment works is crucial. Clients who are going through difficult times need to have that sort of hope that they can improve their quality of life.

All of our clinicians have similar training and similar goals for our clients. As a team, we feel it is integral to be able to offer comparable, reliable support. We always strive to have the utmost up-to-date and quality-driven interventions as we approach people in vulnerable spaces in their lives.

There is something else we hold in high regard as a team and that is a commitment to our greater community. We offer affordable services as our clinicians always offer with an option of rates for clients. We also offer support groups that are either free or deeply discounted. We are committed to educating other professionals and community members through workshops, blogs, meetings and more so that we can share insights and resources that aid in an exchange of ideas which better the community as a whole. When we are unable to take a client due to a specific need or a better fit for the client, we readily refer out to clinicians of the same caliber who may better serve the needs of the client.

As our practice continues to grow, we hope to let people who are suffering know that treatment is available and affordable. We also hope to continue to be a resource for the mental health community and to support the education of new and seasoned clinicians on the modalities we have become experts in. We believe everyone deserves evidence-based support, education and treatment and everyone should have an opportunity to truly grow into a wonderful, safe and balanced version of themselves.
